Produced and directed a documentary for featured display in the “Becoming Los Angeles” exhibition at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County.
“Ofrenda to Los Angeles” followed NEA Heritage Fellow and master altermaker Ofelia Esparza and her daughter, artist Rosanna Ahrens, as they journeyed across Los Angeles collecting objects for an altar celebrating the cultural diversity of the city.
I was asked to accompany them on their journey as a documentarian and collaborator. The altar serves as the culminating display in the exhibition, and my film documenting its creation plays in an adjoining screening space alongside community listening stations where visitors can leave their own audio offerings.
